Reporting results from meets is easy. Making predictions or ranking teams that haven't really competed against each other is very difficult. I might be the only person that has actually seen all of these teams and runners, but this is not an exact science. As always if you disagree with me use it to fuel your future performances...show me that I am wrong...leave a comment and tell me all about it.
GIRLS
SOME OF MY THOUGHTS: Arriaza is undefeated against local competition. She powered her team to the win at Screamin Scott, and was the top local finisher at Kim Duyst ahead of Benham, Nguyen and Wylie. Carlson beat Williams and Hernandez at CCAL 1 but they werenot going all out. Fernandez edged Williams at Woodbridge BUT Williams was alone in her race and Fernandez wasn't. I think if Williams had been pushed the result would have been flipped. Hernandez is improving fast and everyone above her better check their rear view mirrors. Wylie beat Nguyen at Frogtown (Nguyen bet her at Kim Duyst).bBenham didn't run all out at Frogtown but beat Nguyen and Wylie at Kim Duyst.
2. Elle Williams (Turlock)
3. Giselle Fernandez (Riverbank)
4. Avery Carlson (Pitman)
5. Sophie Benham (Hughson)
6. Addison Wylie (Oakdale)
7. Jymena Nguyen-Marquez (Grace Davis)
8. Tyleah Badea (Beyer)
9. Gisela Hernandez (Turlock)
10. Anahi Ruiz Velasco (Beyer)
GIRLS TEAMS
SOME OF MY THOUGHTS: Oakdale may be losing there #2 girl. Turlock's #3 is dealing with and injury and they are searching for a #5. Beyer's girls are very young and still developing and untested and they definitely need a #5. Hughson has lost one of their top 5 for the season, and Patterson needs a 5th...so none of these teams is without issue(s). I have seen them all run. Patterson beat Beyer and Hughson at Screamin Scott but that was a 4 person relay. Oakdale beat Patterson at VOL 1. Hughson beat Oakdale at Kim Duyst but the Mustangs #2 girl didn't finish.
2. Turlock
3. Beyer
4. Hughson
5. Patterson
BOYS
SOME OF MY THOUGHTS: The Beyer boys won Screamin Scott with this foursome, they mostly jogged through WAC 1, and then had a month without racing. We really won't know how they all stack against each other until Clovis Inv and Roughrider both at Woodward within 6 days of each other. Then we (I) can really compare. Terry set the course record in WAC 1, so he isn't playing this season. Wejmar jogged CCAL 1 and still won edging Hamilton and Avalos. Then Wejmar ran faster than Avalos, Hamilton, Petty, and Garcia at Woodbridge. Muturi was fastest at Kim Duyst and Frogtown. Most of this is based on my gut and my eyes....as head to head comparisons have been scarce.

9. Yuushi Kennedy (Beyer)
10. Porter Petty (Turlock)
11. Quinn Baca (Oakdale)

BOYS TEAMS
SOME OF MY THOUGHTS: Beyer's top 4 is rockin', they are interviewing for a fifth. With the addition of Porter Petty, Turlock's top 5 is gelling and maybe should be #1.... Oakdale has been all over the place. Muturi is killing the big meets. They won Frogtown missing two of the top 5. Hughson edged Oakdale at Kim Duyst BUT #3 runner dropped 30 places over final mile (not sure what that was about) but I am not convinced the Huskies at full strength beat the Mustangs at full strength...yet. Pitman has some solid dudes that are under achieving. They beat Modesto at CCAL 1 to earn this spot. Hopefully by the end of the season they will find their stride.
2. Turlock
3. Oakdale
4. Hughson
5. Pitman
It is a bit comical that Oakdale is ranked 4th in the STATE division 3 by milesplit. Not sure how they come up with that. Their best runners have graduated, and the one that was left moved out of Stanislaus. I am with you, Beyer reigns supreme. If they find a fifth runner, they might just be the division 3 champions for SJS.
