WEEK 6 (TVL, MMC, Artichoke)

TVL CLUSTER 2 (Legion 5K)
For the second time this season the TVL schools squared off to measure themselves against each other. As always the competing StanCo teams were Riverbank, Hughson, Orestimba (and in theory Modesto Christian).

V BOYS
On the boys' side it was Daniel Yanez taking the victory, but Riverbank laid a smackdown on the other teams for the team title.   RBK 23; HUGH 43; ESC 79; RIP 91; HIL 128; MH 142

MMC CLUSTER 2 (East LaLoma/Dry Creek  3mi)
As with the TVL this is the second meeting of the MMC teams too. Unlike the TVL the first meeting was at Legion. A different course sometimes provides "plot twists." The cooler temperatures also provided the right conditions for some smoking fast times.

V BOYS
Orlando Cardenas won his second MMC Cluster of the season--in easy fashon, does this guy even sweat? On the team front it was MoHi putting 6 runners in the top 10 to walk away with the victory over a distant Downey and Gregori. This is really a statement of just how good Modesto is running, because Downey placed 7 runners in the top 20 to finish second.

V GIRLS
On the girls' side it was Savannah Mendoza (Modesto) taking advantage of a missing Arielle Names (Downey) to race to the finish line first. Team-wise MoHi again beat the shorthanded Downey squad. Downey placed 8 in the top 18 (even without Names) but still couldn't get past the top 5 of MoHi (4 in the top 6).

ARTICHOKE INV (Half Moon Bay)
10/3/15 The Artichoke Invitational at Half Moon Bay is an opportunity for some valley schools to run in some hills, in a cooler climate (usually), and enjoy an afternoon at the beach following the race. By all accounts (other than the traffic) those that make the trip have an enjoyable day away from the valley.

Rarely do TVL, MMC, and CCC schools ever compete on the same day over the same course (except sections and sub-sections of course).  Although none of the teams were at full strength (except maybe the Turlock and Riverbank boys) as I believe the SATs were being given and some runners competed at Stanford last weekend and were resting.

COMBINED BOYS RESULTS
Since all levels compete over the same rugged course for the same 2.33 mi distance it is possible to combine all of the divisions to directly compare complete teams.

Riverbank placed 11th overall. Modesto (missing their top 5) placed 15th; Turlock was 24th. There were 65 complete teams. It is interesting to note that Guerrero is Modesto's #6 runner. He knocked off Riverbank and Turlock's top guys. This provides a benchmark for comparison between the various leagues' teams.
Alan Guerrero
The places you see beside the names are not their individual race places but their overall combined results places. I've listed everyone who finished under 14:00.

COMBINED GIRLS RESULTS

On the girls' side Turlock was missing only one runner and Pitman had a full team. All of the other teams were missing many key runners. Note that Krieger was 10th and Rodriguez-Delaney was 11th at the most recent MMC meet; they managed to out distance the entire Turlock squad and Hodges who was 7th at the latest TVL. Turlock placed 16th and Pitman was 28th out of 48 teams. I have listed every runner who ran under 17:30.
Perez led the pack at HMB
