2022 State Meet

Well it has taken me several days to sit down and type this up. I feel like anyone who is interested already knows about these results. However for posterity sake I will get the results printed.

37 StanCo runners qualified for State. Is that a record? I don't know. It is about twice as many as some years. And it is the most from the past 10 years, since I have been writing this blog.

Maya Wolfe of Modesto was the only qualifier. She is a soph and had a respectable showing.

Victorious Mustangs
This was the marquee race of the day for StanCo runners. There were 2 teams (14 runners) and the Oakdale Mustangs entered the race ranked #1 in the State--so expectations were soaring. Oakdale led from the gun. At both 1 mile and 2.1 miles the chip timing showed them in the lead. As was the case most of the season, their top four were positioned in the front (or close to it). As runners began finishing, they impressively had 3 in the top ten. I was watching the results come in on my phone. At about 48th the results froze before their #5 had finished. There were some anxious moments of anticipation. Finally the results updated. They not only had won, they had routed the competition. Oakdale's combined time of 1:18:31 was the 4th fastest team on the day and undoubtedly the fastest StanCo team ever.

I had been hoping for a top 10 finish for the Huskies, but some illness likely hampered the cause. Regardless they had a stellar season.
