We are starting the XC season about 6 months late, but I for one am glad it is at least starting. Actually the CCAA started last week but I was busy figuring out just what the league realignment would mean for meets, teams, locations, times...well once the dust settled (yesterday) it seem clear that this won't look like any past XC season. There will be no SubSections, Sections, or State meet. Most of the leagues aren't even having their own championship meet. Often teams will only toe the line next to their own teammates, as the next team might start 10 min later. It will be interesting. It will be different. It will be very condensed. But kids will get to compete...if not head to head then against the clock. Fitness and times will improve, and just like most mornings, the sun will shine again...
This week a few StanCo teams got into the action. Oakdale hosted Manteca; Central Catholic hosted Ripon, and the CCAA schools ran first at Woodward Reservoir and then again on private property in an orchard west of Ceres.
