WEEK 0/1 RUNNERS OF THE WEEK

With only about half the StanCo teams having begun their seasons in some fashion, I had a particularly difficult time selecting ROW this week. Don't misunderstand me, there were indeed some impressive performances. Often I am not looking at the "fastest" performance of the week, but I am looking for the surprising

JONATHAN STALEY (Waterford)--he has already competed in 4 races this year. That is not why I am recognizing him. This award is about quality, not quantity. At last week's Lodi Flame race Jonathan improved almost 90 secs from the previous year to place 25th overall in 17:43. Even more impressive was his 4th place finish at this week's Jaguar Inv.

MADISON KACKLEY (Gregori)--last week Maddi placed 2nd at the Lodi Flame invite showing indeed that she is serious about earning the elusive spot in the State meet that just evaded her last season.

OTHERS I CONSIDERED
JACK DUCHALA (Gregori)--placed 4th at Lodi Flame Inv
BRISEIDA GARCIA (Gregori)--placed third at the Lodi Flame Inv
MADELINE TREE (Orestimba)--beat her time from the previous year at the Lodi Flame Inv by over 2 min
URIEL ALVAREZ (Turlock)--repeated as winner of the Pitman/Turlock scrimmage
CAMILA STEPHENS (Pitman)--was the fastest female at the Pitman/Turlock scrimmage
JAYSON MARTIN (Pitman)--fastest male at the Pitman/Hughson scrimmage
MAVLEEN MANN (Pitman)--fastest female at the Hughson/Pitman scrimmage, she led her team to the victory over the highly touted Huskies
CHRISTIAN BALDERAS (Central Valley)--won the Soph race at the Thunder 2mi with the second fastest time of the day.
KAYDEN LEGAN (Oakdale)-- placed 3rd at the Jaguar Inv
