Participating StanCo team was Hughson
Last season Hughson had 4 boys break 11 in this meet. Well this is definitely a rebuilding year for the Husky boys as only two of them even broke 12. That is the bad news. The good news is only one boy on the team is a senior so they have a young group to build with.
BOYS
1. Austin Houch 11:14
2. Miguel Ramos 11:25
GIRLS
1. Emily Fife 12:46
2. Elizette Ysias 13:10

WED 8/23 PITMAN V TURLOCK SCRIMMAGE @ DONNELLY PARK, TURLOCK
Participating StanCo teams were Pitman and Turlock.
Turlock continues its reign over the Pride. The Bulldogs won the VG race 22 to 37 and the VB race by the same score.
VARSITY GIRLS
Mavleen simply DOMINATED producing the fasted girl's time in this race in at least 5 years (I am guessing more like 10 years). She beat all but 4 of the boys. It was great to see Hope back out on the course too.

9. Yazmine Davalos (Turlock) 23:16
10. Jasmine Ruelas (Turlock) 23:26
VARSITY BOYS
The boys ran a lot slower than the past several years. Yes, it was hot. But the girls times (other than Mavleen's blistering race) were fairly comparable. One example is that Austin ran 18:06 last year to place 7th. This year he ran 18:58 and almost won. There are many factors and it is very early in the season. There is a lot of time for both of these teams to build and produce fast times.

FRI 8/25 LODI FLAME INV @ LODI LAKES, LODI
Participating StanCo teams were Denair, Waterford, Orestimba, and Gregori
Madison Kackley |
I don't normally cover the non-varsity races in this Blog, but this bears strongly of the course of the rest of the season. Madison Kackley (Gregori) won the Frosh race; and her 12:42 time over the 2 mi course, was the fastest time a female recorded in the Frosh, Soph, and JV divisions combined. Adding Madison and the absent Morgan McKay to the existing Gregori team may be enough fire-power to challenge Downey for the MMC title...well maybe. I am not yet a believer. But what I do know is it will definitely make the MMC competition much more interesting.
VARSITY GIRLS
Surprisingly it was the Ripon VGs winning the team title, taking down a host of D1 and D2 programs. The addition of 9th grader Laila Irilgoyen (15th place) makes the Indians a formidable team. They still don't have the runners that Hughson does, but they are a strong #2 team in the TVL. The Gregori girls placed 7th.
Garcia ran most of the race alone |
3. Briseida Garcia (Gregori) 20:00
26. Jaecelyn Romero (Waterford) 22:47
28. Eva Rodriguez (Gregori) 22:53
38. Sienna Espinoza (Gregori) 23:22
47. Madeline Tree (Orestimba) 24:05
VARSITY BOYS
On the boys' side it was all Gregori. The Jags placed 7 runners in the top 19 to easily out-score some very solid D1 and D2 programs. Gregori totaled an anemic 44pts.
