Stanislaus County Distance: 2025 XC Week 1 (Screamin Scott Showdown; Oakmont Inv)

Thirteen StanCo team were in action this week. So I'll officially begin numbering the weeks and naming Runners of the Week.

FRI 8/29 SCREAMIN' SCOTT SHOWDOWN @River Bluff Park, Ceres

The competing StanCo teams were Denair, Patterson, Hughson, Pitman, Orestimba, Waterford, Grace Davis, Big Valley, Enochs, Ceres, and Beyer. All runners ran 1.5 miles. There was a 4 person relay division and an open division. Unfortunately there are essentially zero official results for the meet. All four races were in progress at once; and as people began to cross the finish/hand off zones, the timer was simply overwhelmed. It seems to me there are some lessons here...I think that it all might have worked out if the runners had been wearing chips...or the four different races needed to be run separately and completed prior to starting the next race (we would have run out of day light)...but given the timing/race issues I did not hear anyone complaining. I think the kids had a good time and ultimately that is a positive thing.

SAT 8/30 OAKMONT INV @ Johnson Springville Park, Rocklin

The competing StanCo teams were Central Valley, Downey, and Turlock. All races in this meet covered the same mostly flat 4K course. This meet had 55 teams competing so there was some solid competition.
