2022-23 XC and TRACK Season by the Numbers

The XC/Track year or "season" follows the school year and not the traditional calendar year. Each year I throw out some numbers to my readers (both of you) to give you a snap shot of what happened and what I do. Usually I would post this in early June, but this year I was busy with a month long vacation (which was likely needed). So here is the count down...

~50,000 photos taken (about half deleted between races)

22,000 photos posted on FB

49 XC and Track meets that I went to

43 blog posts

38 StanCo runners qualified for State XC

27 photo collages given out for All StanCo Track and XC Teams

25 Runner of the Week shirts given out during XC

20 Distance runners met the All StanCo Track standards (usually about 10)

9 purple StanCo shirts handed out for breaking 2:00/2:20 (800); 4:30/5:30 (1600) for the first time

9 orange StanCo shirts handed out for breaking 10:00/12:00 (3200) for the first time

6 blue StanCo sweatshirts given out to the 6 County Track Meet distance event champions

6 "Record Breaker" shirts given to runners who make it onto one of the all-time lists

5 StanCo teams (Oakdale B, Hughson B, Central Catholic B, Central Catholic G, Beyer B) qualified for State XC

4 boys broke 9:15 in the 3200m (Cavanaugh, Daley, Alsaidi, and Olsen)

3 StanCo teams (Oakdale B, Hughson B, Central Catholic B) won their divisions at SJS XC

3 StanCo Distance Scholarships of $500 each were awarded (Hannah Starr--Orestimba; Kendall Lima--Turlock; Yelena Ordonez--Beyer). Thank you to the people who gave me gift cards or donated $ to make the 2nd and 3rd scholarships possible (I will fund one each year). If you want to donate to next year's scholarship fund, please email (screaminscott64@yahoo.com) or text me at (209-404-1683).

2 Stanislaus County Track records were broken (47.85-400m  and 1:51.95-800m both by Joe Lighthall of Hughson)

1 XC runner made the All Nor-Cal 1st team (Dax Daley, Oakdale). In 60 years only 22 other times has a StanCo runner received this honor.

1 State CIF XC team Champion (Oakdale in D3) and first for the County

1 State CIF distance event champion (Joe Lighthall-Hughson in the 800m)

There was no partridge or pear tree, but it was an amazing year and I am already getting excited for XC this coming year. Thank you for reading through and coming along for the ride.
