Well this was a busy week for me. The CCC, CAL, and SAL were finally in action. Most of the County's schools competed in the County Championship meet. A handful of athletes ran at the Dublin Distance Fiesta. There were WAC dual meets too and the Jaguar Inv but none of the results there were very spectacular compared these that I am writing up.
On a positive note several distance runners earned StanCo shirts this week. Efren Sanchez (Pitman) went sub 4:30 to earn the purple shirt; Nate Olsen (Beyer), Jackson Oliveira (Oakdale), Brody Vecchione (Turlock) all broke 10 and Downey's Zoe Leach broke 12 to earn the orange StanCo shirt.

Competing StanCo teams were Downey, Central Valley, Central Catholic, Oakdale, Enochs, Gregori, Modesto, Turlock, Pitman, Ceres, Beyer, Grace Davis, Big Valley Christian, Hughson, and Riverbank.
The weather was great and there was almost no wind (a very rare occurrence) for the distance runners. StanCo distance legend, German Fernandez was recognized during the meet. As a nod to all the I have done for the sport, the medals this year had my logo colors and logo on them--super cool.
Unfortunately Gregori and Downey (and Oakdale's top lady) held out their distance runners and opted to attend Dublin. Johansen and Patterson didn't attend the meet. Denair, Waterford and Ostetimba had an SAL league meet the same evening.

The times in this race are suspect. They were filled in off of hand times by coaches. Although the meet was plagued with timing issues all evening, in this case it was caused by someone tripping on the camera cord while the race was happening. In the future this area must be roped off as it is in other venues to avoid such an injustice as inaccurate times.

16 of the top 17 runners scored a PR in this race, and three of the top 4 broke 10 for the first time ever. It was awesome race to watch. I almost lost my voice while screaming at the runners.
