2021 WEEK 1 StanCo XC Runners of the Week

With the first real week of XC complete, there were some stellar performances. For those of you who don't know, since it has been 2 years since we have had a normal XC season, I review the results of the week and select at least one male and one female runner of the week. They receive a special ROW StanCo shirt. I contact the coach(es) and attempt to meet with the whole team to present the shirt. My goal is to promote the sport and recognize the hard work that these athletes put in every day.

MACI DAY (Pitman)--placed 3rd overall (and 1st for StanCo runners) at the Jaguar Inv. Her time was 21:26 over the rugged 5K course.

EFREN SANCHEZ (Pitman)--won the varsity division of the Jaguar Inv in a time of 17:28 on the hot sandy 5K course. He continues his unbeaten streak over XC courses in 2021.

OTHERS THAT I CONSIDERED

MORGAN MERZON (Oakdale)--place 9th in her 1st varsity race at the Jaguar Inv. Her time was 22:17 over the difficult course. She was the second Mustang and helped her team win the meet

ANGELICA ELIZONDO (Oakdale)--Placed 15th at Thursday's Jaguar Inv in 23:31. I am seeing a huge improvement in her strength and fitness which will definitely help her team.

ALBERTO ESQUIVEZ (Orestimba)--placed 11th in the VB race at Jaguar Inv. He finished the 2019 XC season well and it appears he is working his way back to that form.

ELLA POLHEMUS (Grace Davis)-- placed 7th at Saturday's Early Bird meet at Buhach HS. She comered the mostly grass 5K course in 21:52 besting all of the Turlock VG runners.
