2020 (21) XC Week 3

The weather is warming and there is some serious talk of reopening schools in some fashion. It will take many years to rebuild the base of XC runners at most of the schools, but there is something so pure about the sport. The very act of pushing yourself to improve over your previous effort with perhaps nothing to show for it but the pride of knowing that you did it.

3/2 TUES WAC DUAL MEETS

CERES @CENTRAL VALLEY at River Bluff Park
I was at this meet. This cross-town rivalry has been very competitive in some of the past years. Both teams are seriously depleted this season, but the racing was competitive and many runners turned in PRs. Ceres boys were happy to snag their first victory of the season.

MTN HOUSE @ GRACE DAVIS
Interestingly this meet was initially scored as a tied. The protocol is that the fastest 6th runners breaks the tie. Mountain House had the fastest 6th so on the results they took the VB win. I usually look over the results that I've been sent and double check the scores. In this case there was a slight error which actually gave GD the win. They will happily take it

3/3 WED CENTRAL CATHOLIC @ MANTECA 5K at Woodward Park
The partial results that I have from this meet came from the Manteca Bulletin. I email the CC coach for results. The CC names without times were my best guess at the CC  runner who may have filled that spot.

3/5 FRI  WAC DUAL MEETS

GRACE DAVIS @ PATTERSON
I was at this meet. It was a beautiful day out in Patterson. It is normally windy when I head to the west-side of the county, but not on this day. Davis was missing their #2 boy which made the racing closer that it might have been. But the Spartans went 1-2-3 and there is no way to beat a team in a dual meet if they drop a 1-2-3 on you. This was also the 3rd straight win for Gerardo RM of Davis. This should set up some competitive racing next Tuesday as undefeated Beyer visits GD. Beyer's Nathan Olsen has been crushing the competition and is also undefeated.

JOHANSEN @ LOS BANOS
Johansen boys squeak by and are now 4-0. They definitely drew the weaker half of the WAC this season. But take nothing away from them, I know they have worked very hard and earned their wins.

3/6 SAT TVL/SAL #1 at Diablo Grande
I was at this meet. This was the first opportunity for the TVL/SAL runners to face-off head to head. It was also the first XC meet ever in Diablo Grande. Hughson demonstrated their depth by rolling through the boys' and girls' races.
