PreSeason All-StanCo Boys' Team

Today it is the boys' turn. Honestly the talent lost to graduation was HUGE for the boys. For example the girls had 8 different individuals who had made a prior all StanCo end of season team. On the boys' side there are only three. So I would characterize it as a rebuilding year for the boys. The top of the pack is wide open for whomever wants to work and earn their spot.

As I said with the girls, making this list should not be the end all goal for anyone. There is no substitute for hard work. Listen to your coach and work as a team!

Again did I miss someone...I am sure that you will let me know.

PRESEASON 1ST TEAM ALL STANCO

ALAN GUERERO (Modesto) 12th--All StanCo XC 2015 + 2017. His top times last track season were 2:05/4:34/10:32. In XC he placed 8th in D1 SJS in a time of 16:35 and qualified for State. Alan is the top returning StanCo runner PERIOD. Only question can he stay injury free this season.

RYAN WEIDMAN (Enochs) 12th--His top times last track season were 4:35/10:12. In XC he placed 39th in D1 SJS in a time of 17:29. Ryan was just a step behind the top MMC runners last season. This year in the CCAL, they might all be looking at his back.

JACK DUCHALA (Gregori) 11th--All StanCo XC 2017. His top times last track season were 2:04/4:36/10:26. In XC he placed 26th in D1 SJS in a time of 17:02. Jack has huge talent and experience...the questions are 1. can he stay injury free  2. can he be the leader of the Jags

JAYSON MARTIN (Pitman) 11th--All StanCo Track 2018. His top times last track season were 1:59/4:40. Well that 1:59  800m says it all. Jayson will surprise some of the top CCAL runners. If he can stay close, he will out kick them.

CHRISTIAN BALDERAS (Central Valley) 10th--His top times last track season were 4:45/10:23. Christian's times show he has huge talent. The trick will be to continue progressing against the more experienced and ultra competitive CCC runners.

AUSTIN HOACH (Hughson) 12th--His top times last track season were 2:09/4:50/10:27. Now with a year of maturity Austin is positioned to lead the Huskies and the TVL.

JUSTIN THOMAS (Gregori) 12th--His top times last track season were 4:45/10:32. In XC he placed 19thJV in D1 SJS in a time of 18:13. Justin ran varsity part of last season. Now it is time to use that experience to help the Jags pursue the first ever CCAL title.

ELIAS FIERRO (Central Catholic) 12th--His top times last track season were 4:41/10:36. In XC he placed 11th in D5 SJS in a time of 18:17. With the Graduation of Anthony Vazquez, Elias is the top Raider and (if can stay injury free) should have his sights set on a trip to the D5 State meet.

GAVIN VALENZUELA (Turlock) 10th--His top times last track season were 2:07/4:44/10:40. Like Sergio,  Gavin and others are the future of the Bulldogs. The question is can the youngsters compete against more seasoned runners this season.

JOEL CARDOZA (Downey) 11th--His top times last track season were 4:53/10:34. In XC he placed 40th in D2 SJS in a time of 17:37. Joel should be the top Knight this season. He has the ability to run with the best in the CCAL if he continues to develop.

______________________________________________________________

RAMON ROSAS (Riverbank) 11th--His top times last track season were 4:57/10:34. Ramon won the TVL Championship meet last season. He won't surprise anyone this year.

CHASE BOGART (Central Valley) 12th--His top times last track season were 2:04/4:46. Chase should be the leader on the Hawks as they step up from the WAC to the CCC.

TANNER CUSANO (Oakdale) 10th--His top times last track season were 4:53/10:36. I think Tanner grew a foot last year. He has ability but must continue pushing through the VOL
.
OSCAR PORTILLO (Modesto) 12th--His top time last track season was 10:36. In XC he placed 59th in D1 SJS in a time of 17:59. Alan will need serious help for MoHi to compete in the CCAL this season.

CARTER MANNON (Gregori) 12th--His top times last track season were 4:48/10:40. Like the rest of the Jaguares on the list it is time for Carter to emerge from the very big shadow left by the Gregori graduates.

SERGIO MAZON (Turlock) 10th--His top times last track season were 4:53/10:39. Sergio is one of several talented younger runners at Turlock. The key will be to continue developing at the same time you are competing at a high level in the CCAL.

SPENCER JEPPSON (Gregori) 12th--His top times last track season were 4:49/11:01. In XC he ran D1JV SJS in a time of 17:37. With the huge loss to graduation at Gregori it is time for Spencer to consistently show the ability that he demonstrated at the end of last season.

URIEL ALVAREZ (Turlock) 12th--His top time last track season was 2:06. Uriel began last season by winning the annual Pitman v Turlock scrimmage and then seemed content to run in the second tier of the CCC. Now as a senior he needs to lead the younger Bulldog talent into the CCAL.

JORDAN TASHO (Pitman) 11th--His top times last track season were 4:52/10:49. With another year behind him and a new coach it may be time for Jordan to make a real name for himself.

JAXON REEVES (Gregori) 12th--His top time last track season was 10:51. In XC he placed 58th in D1 SJS in a time of 17:59, Jaxon ran varsity all last season on a team that qualified for State. Most graduated and now Jaxon must show what he learned from last year's experience.

DUSTIN CHAVEZ (Oakdale) 12th--His top times last track season were 4:46/10:54. Like other schools graduation at Oakdale left a void. Dustin and Tanner have the potential to compete in the VOL and more.

MATT MOLTHEN (Downey) 11th--His top times last track season were 4:58/10:53. With the graduation of Downey's top to runners it will be necessary for Matt and some of his younger teammates step step up for the Knights to remain competitive in the CCAL.

CRISTIAN SILVA (Modesto) 12th--His top time last track season was 2:04. Cristian has huge speed but can he hang onto the top CCAL runners in the early stages of the race

  1. Don't Sleep on Miguel Ramos of Hughson. He finished ahead of Austin Hoach in EVERY CC race last season. His track times weren't as good (only 4:52 for 1600) but he's had a good summer. The county looks wide open this year. Lots of decent talent but nobody that is head and shoulders above (with the exception of Alan, if he can run the way he did in cross rather than track last year). Don't sleep on RBK either. The defending TVL champ needs to be on this list!
