This was a down week for most StanCo teams. All of the WAC teams had dual meets--the results aren't posted anywhere, so I have not listed them here. Beside those dual meets the only meet of note was the Pacific Tiger Invitational in which Turlock, Turlock Christian, Pitman, Oakdale, Patterson, Waterford, and Beyer ran at. The course was extremely fast (5K), the weather was very mild, but the majority of the StanCo results were less than awe inspiring. Consequently I am going to skip the Runners of the Week, this week, and double up next week.
This meet did have some great results/competition as it was the normal weekend for the Stanford Invite. That meet was canceled, so so of the top Bay Area team came over the hill to run here. The meet was split into Large and Small school divisions and they all ran 5K.

It seems that this meet usually produces times at least a minute faster than kids will run for 5k on a course like Woodward or Legion Park (TVL/Sierra Invite version at least)
ReplyDeleteYes, I have had several people comment that the times seem outrageously fast. There was no elevation variation, the grass was like an all-weather track, the weather was mild, and there was good competition (oh and maybe the distance was inaccurate--who knows) BUT times mean nothing in XC it is only the places at SJS that have any meaning
