Championship Week

VOL 10/27 at Legion in Modesto 5K
I am disappointed to say that I don't have complete results from this meet. There was some sort of story regarding the timing company not arriving so there were no official times kept for the meet...WHAT! Okay I wasn't at the start/finish line but anyone with an iphone could have timed the whole meet. Listed below are some of the times for the top Oakdale runners

VB
As a spectator I didn't think that Oakdale probably had their best race. They went out slow and seemed to have difficulty making up the ground/places that they needed.

Justin Crescenti (Oakdale) 18:15
Cade Middaugh (Oakdale) 18:18
James Forkner (Oakdale) 18:51
Ryan Poff (Oakdale) 19:01
Josh Gorman (Oakdale) 19:03
Aguilar led the Mustangs
VG
Kristen Aguilar led the Mustangs as she has all season with a time of 21:59 and a place of about 10th

CCC 10/28 at Atwater HS 3mi
VG
The teams of the CCC met up for the third time this season. In the VG race Atwater had won the first meeting and Turlock won the second. So, the third race was for the true championship. Although Ciara Colon of Atwater won the individual title, it was the depth of Turlock that prevailed for the team title.

TVL/Southern  10/28 at Legion in Modesto 5K
The TVL and Southern league teams met for the third time this season on the 5K course at Legion Park. The questions to be answered were: 1. could RBK VBs hold off the charging Huskies of Hughson? 2. Could the Hughson varsity girls dethrone the Riverbank women?

VG
Kim Ruvalcaba (RBK) easily ran away with the individual title, and the pack of the Hughson girls captured the team title.

MMC 10/30 at Legion in Modesto
For the 4th time this year the seven MMC schools went to battle on the Legion Park 3 mi loop course.

VG
On the Lady's side it was about the battle between MoHi and Downey. Modesto had an edge in points heading into the meet providing a winner take all situation. The Panthers were missing their #4 runner Kerry Young due to a injury, and the Knights took advantage of the opportunity in dominating fashion.
The victorious Knights
1-TD 29; 2-Mod 43; 3-Enochs 75; 4-Greg 107; 5-Beyer 136

Individually no one seemed to want to push the pace, making for a tactical affair and relatively slow times. Arielle Names out-kicked a pack of 5 over the final 500m to take the individual title, however the time was only one second faster than what she posted at MMC 1.

VB
On the Varsity Boy's side it was all about the Modesto Panthers, as it had been all season. They simply dominated. In fact if the rest of the MMC had together raced the Panthers, Modesto still would have won.

Individually Orlando Cardenas ran away with the title. In the absence of Downey's Inteus Schiavo (ill) he was virtually unpushed.

  3. Yeah. We tried the ol' hard mid race surge tactic to break the race open. We broke it open but couldn't carry it to the finish....almost...almost. At least we have a couple of more weeks to try to get it right with the boys.
