WEEK 2 (TVL 1; PreSeason WAC; Jaguar Inv; Lagoon Valley)

This was a busy week. Amazingly some teams still have yet to run a race, at the same time some of the schools have already run three races.

TVL #1
The schools of the TVL met for the first time this season on the Legion Park 5 K circuit. The competing StanCo teams were Riverbank, Hughson, and Orestimba.

On the girls' side it was the experience of Riverbank verses the youth of Hughson's two Frosh newbies. For this meeting it was a repeat of the past several years with RBK taking the victory. RBK-38; Hugh-47; Esc-75; Rip-76. In head to head dual scoring the margin would have been even less with RBK edging Hugh 26 to 29.

WAC PRESEASON
The WAC schools met for the first time on the River Park course in Ceres. The StanCo representatives were Ceres, Central Valley, and Patterson.

I want to thank Tomas Virgen and Carlos Ponce of Patterson for shooting me some VB results. I can't be everywhere so it is nice to have some help at the meets that I can't get to.

On the VB side it was all Patterson! Enough said!

LAGOON VALLEY
This is a huge meet over a dusty course that has two giant hills. It certainly can provide a true early test of a teams fitness. Downey was the only StanCo competing team. The results indicate to me that the Knights are ready for a strong push in the MMC this season.

On the girls' side the team was split between the F/S race and the VG race. The VG placed 8th out of 18 teams and the F/S girls placed 2nd (only behind powerhouse Davis HS 52 to 67) out of 20 teams.

A huge shout out to Carlos Ponce and Tomas Virgen for sending the WAC results my way. Also thank you to Scott Osgood and Tina Anderson for allowing me to use their photos on this site. Photos certainly add to the articles. Thank you to Dick Hodges for sharing his TVL photo in the linked album. I believe that we all just want to recognize the hard work and dedication of these athletes.
