MMC 2

On Wednesday 10/1/14 the seven MMC schools squared off against each other for the second of four cluster meets. The large number of runners and the tight competition always makes these meets exciting to watch.

VARSITY GIRLS
Names, Mendoza, Goldman lead the MMC VG pack

For the VGs the results were much as they were in the 1st cluster--that is Downey simply dominated putting 5 runners in the top 7. They bested their nearest competition (MoHi) 18 to 37 with Savannah Mendoza's (Modesto) second place finish the only thing between the Lady Knights and a simply unimaginable perfect score of 15. Individually, it was Arielle Names (Downey) overpowering the field to take her second cluster meet title. The Downey youth and depth are proving to be a lethal combination for the rest of the MMC. As their first MMC title seems in hand it truly is KNIGHT TIME.

VARSITY BOYS
A huge VB pack

For the VBs it was a very tight team competition that ebbed and flowed from Modesto to Gregori and back again throughout the 3.03 miles. At the line it was ultra tight with Modesto taking the 27 to 29 dual victory. There were several individual races (places) where MoHi runners edged Gregori runners by less than a second (further demonstrating just how close these two teams are). With the victories in Clusters 1 and 2 it is the Panthers fully in control of the race for the league title.  However, I believe that Jeremy Hart will be eligible for the Jaguars for the next cluster.  Individually, it was a tight pack for the first mile. As the race progressed it became a two man race between Mario Medina (Gregori) and Marc Alania (Modesto), with Medina ultimately pulling away slightly for the win.
2.5 miles Alania and Medina pulling away
