2025 2nd Rankings (Team and Individual)

Friday's Rough Rider meet will give us more info and certainly change these rankings but here is round 2 of rankings for the 2025 season. As always if you don't agree tell me about (but justify your answer). Use it to fuel your next performance. The best way to make your point is to show me out on the course.

GIRLS TEAM
1. Oakdale
2. Turlock
3. Hughson
4. Beyer
5. Pitman/Modesto/Gregori

MY THOUGHTS: Oakdale won Golden Eagle. Even though they got slammed in the championship race at Clovis (sans #2 runner), they still ran significantly faster than Hughson and Beyer. Hughson (minus #5 edged Beyer at Clovis). Turlock runs at Roughrider and then I'll have a better idea of where exactly they fit. Their#2 and  #3 are still not 100% but they crushed Modesto, Gregori, and Pitman at CCAL 2. Pitman edged Modesto at CCAL 2. Gregori won Amanda Garcia running theirwhole team together (but is most races they split out their younger runners. Modesto moved #1 girl up and it was almost enough to beat Pitman.
 GIRLS INDIVIDUAL
1. Giselle Fernandez (Riverbank) smashed StanCo record at Clovis Inv
2. Elle Williams (Turlock) broke StanCo record at Willow Hills and River Bluff
3. Natalie Arriaza (Patterson) hasn't races in 2 weeks (injured? ill?)
4. Avery Carlson (Pitman) experiencing a crisis of confidence. Last year really came on at the end
5. Addison Wylie (Oakdale) Great race Clovis Inv beat Badea
6. Jymena Nguyen Marquez (Grace Davis) beat Badea at WAC 2. Ran great at Artichoke
7. Tyleah Badea (Beyer) Lost to Nguyen at WAC and Wylie at Clovis. Beat Benham & Gomez Orozco at Clovis
8. Sophie Benham (Hughson) ailing at Clovis. Beat by Badea
9. Noeli Gomez Orozco (Hughson) almost beat Benham at Clovis
10. Jaylyn Carillo (Patterson) ran well at Crystal Springs

Others in the mix: Roselynn Dominguez (Modesto), Melanie Rodriguez (Patterson), Gisela Hernandez (Turlock), Nayeli Mattison (Pitman)

BOYS TEAM
1. Oakdale
2. Turlock
3. Beyer
4. Hughson
5. Modesto

MY THOUGHTS: Beyer drops due to illness of #4 and inconsistent running of #5. Is Oakdale really #1...honestly I don't know. Hopefully Rough Rider will clear this up. With Porter Petty running varsity, Turlock may be #1. Hughson's lost to Beyer at Clovis and their #3 may be done for the season. Modesto moved some boys up and take out Pitman at CCAL 2 to earn the #5 spot.

 BOYS INDIVIDUAL
1. Hayes Terry (Beyer)  set Forebay and River Bluff course records, fastest at Clovis
2. Havyn Bartell (Beyer) Hayes' shadow
3. Larson Wejmar (Turlock) won CCAL 1 and 2
4. Sean Muturi (Oakdale) off day at Golden Eagle but fastest at Frogtown and Kim Duyst
5. Yuushi Kennedy (Beyer) edged Pimentel at Clovis
6. Porter Petty (Turlock) F/S course record at River Bluff
7. Cesar Bojorquez (Downey) beat Avalos, Hamilton and Franco at CCAL 2
8. Alessandro Pimentel (Hughson) behind Kennedy at Clovis
9. Quinn Baca (Oakdale) hasn't had a bad race all season
10. Gabriel Avalos (Turlock) beat Hamilton and Franco at CCAL 2

Others in the mix: Zayn Hamilton (Turlock), Weston McGhee (Oakdale), Jovani Franco (Modesto), Matt Santana (Riverbank), Gustavo Ortiz (Riverbank)

  1. I am aware you have never done something like this before, but now that you are retired and attending meets not only in Stanislaus but also in Merced county regularly. Would it be possible for you to share your thoughts about team & individual rankings for Merced County too?
