Runners of Week 7 and UpComing Races

RUNNERS OF WEEK 7
Leo Pando at Crystal Springs--photo credit Lucia Luis

LEO PANDO 12th (Modesto)--Leo waited until his senior yoer to run XC but he has already made an impact with the Panthers and in the MMC. His time at MMC 2 ranks as the 15th best ever over that course. At MMC 1 he was the 6th MoHi finisher. At MMC 2, Stanford, and at this week's Crystal Springs Inv he was their second finisher. His improvement in ability and confidence is key to the success of the Modesto High team.

Adelae Fredeen  earlier in the season at Sierra Inv
ADELAE FREDEEN 12th (Turlock)--Adelae had a breakout race at CCC 2 placing 3rd overall in a huge PR time of 19:08. Additionally she place as the top Bulldog finisher for the first time ever. Her continued improvement will be essential if the Bulldogs hope to repeat as CCC champs.

HONORABLE MENTION
David Bosquez 12th (Turlock)--as he has all season he led the Bulldogs and placed 6th at CCC 2.
Karina Prado 9th (Oakdale)--placed 2nd at VOL 2 to lead her team to the victory.
Anthony Vazquez 11th (Central Catholic)--in his first ever cross country season he finished 4th at VOL 2
Abigayle Mitchell 12th (Hughson)--placed 17th in the D4 division at Clovis Inv and led her team to a 5th place finish.
Carson Boice 12th (Hughson)--placed 59th in the D4 race at the Clovis Inv.
Aryana Perillo 11th (Modesto)--placed 18th in the varsity Gold division at Crystal Springs Inv.
Josue Perez 11th (Modesto)--placed 24th in the championship division at Crystal springs Inv.
Zachary Sanders 12th (Gregori)--placed 10th in the Varsity division at the Castro Valley Inv.

UPCOMING RACES

Wed 10/12--Patterson at Central Valley Dual Meet at River Bluff Park, Ceres; Competing StanCo teams are Patterson and Central Valley; initially I looked at my calendar wrong and thought that this meet was last week...What am I looking for? The dual up front between CV's Rojas and Patterson's Virgen is interesting but the VB team race may be even closer.
Wed 10/12--MMC 3 at Davis Park, Modesto; Competing StanCo teams are Beyer, Downey, Enochs, Grace Davis, Gregori, Johansen, and Modesto. What am I looking for? This will be MoHi's last chance to catch Gregori's VBs otherwise they will have an insurmountable lead.
Fri 10/14--Roughrider Inv, Woodward park, Fresno; Competing StanCo teams are Grace davis, Gregori, and Riverbank. What am I looking for? How will the Gregori boys stack up against some of the top runners in the State over the State Meet course.
Sat 10/15--Hughson Supercross, Hughson HS, Hughson; Competing StanCo teams are Oakdale, Hughson, Modesto, Turlock, Pitman, Waterford, Enochs, Central Valley, Ceres, Denair, Orestimba, Central Catholic. What am I looking for? Some of the schools will not be running their top kids; but others will be running everyone. I am interested in the head to head battle between Carson Boice (Hugh),  Anthony Vazquez (CC), and David Bosquez (Tur). Also for the ladies--Abigayle Mitchell and Emily Fife (Hughson) vs Karina Prado and Kayden Legan (Oakdale) vs Maria Varela and Ade Fredeen (Turlock)--six of the top ladies in StanCo.
Sat 10/15--Hoka One Bronco Inv, Willow Hills res, Folsom HS, Folsom--Competing StanCo teams are Downey, Beyer, Central Catholic, Patterson (is Central Catholic really going to Bronco and Hughson--unlikely). What am I looking for? How will the Downey girls fair in their first big SJS test of the season. The comparison of Patterson's Virgen and Downey's Benavides is also interesting (and perhaps CC's Vazquez)
