WEEK 2 (Jaguar Inv, Nevada Twilight Classic, Thunder 2mi)

JAGUAR INVITATIONAL (Eagal Lakes, Tracy)
Competing StanCo schools were Turlock, Pitman, Beyer, Oakdale, Orestimba, and Turlock Christian. It was about 90F; but it felt warmer in the direct sun and much of the course is powdery dirt, so it does not run as a very fast 5K circuit

The StanCo results in this meet were less than I had hoped (but it is VERY early in the season.)

F/S GIRLS

This is not usually a division that I cover, but Beyer's Frosh Athena Adamakas won the 2.1 mi race in 14:29. She was the fastest female over that distance. Additionally she could make some waves in the MMC if allowed to run at the Varsity level.

VARSITY GIRLS
The #4 ranked (in Nor Cal) ladies from Granada came east over the hill to completely stomp the competitors from the valley. I have never seen a team sweep a varsity division at an invitational, but that is exactly what Granada did by placing 1,2,3,4,5 and scoring a perfect 15 pts. Turlock (still missing #2 runner) placed a respectable 2nd with 84 pts. Oakdale had 160 for 6th place and Pitman was 7th with 198 pts

Granada won the boys' division too with 41 pts. 5-Oakdale 164; 7-Pitman 215; 10-Turlock 234; 13-Beyer 387; 16-Turlock Christian 483; 17-Orestimba 511

NATURE'S BAKERY NEVADA TWILIGHT CLASSIC (Shadow Mtn Park, Sparks, NV)
The only competing StanCo school was Hughson over the 4K course.

I heartly congratulate Hughson for winning both the Small School Boys and Girls divisions at this meet. However there is more to this story as it relates to the season's goal for the Huskies. Sonora ran their #1 girl in the Large School division (and she won) and their boys in the Large School division. Both the Sonora boys and girls would have topped the Huskies head to head. Given that Sonora and Hughson are both competing in the SJS D4 against each other for a limited number of berths to the State meet, Hughson still has work to do.

SMALL SCHOOL GIRLS
There was a very small field of 32 runners and only 2 full teams here. Hughson squeaked out the victory 28 to 29 points for South Lake Tahoe. But as I stated above...Sonora ran 4 girls in this race and their top girl in the Large School race. Had they run together it appears that Sonora would have won.
1. Abigayle Mitchell (Hughson) 16:38
4. Kinsey Langley (Hughson) 17:02
11. Esmeralda Campos (Hughson) 17:57
25. Jazmine Uribe (Hughson) 20:34
26. Gabriela Madrigal (Hughson) 21:15
27. Teagan Zuniga (Hughson) 21:17
29. Priscilla Fernandes (Hughson) 22:07

To compare...Cassie Land (Sonora) won the large school race in 14:48

SMALL SCHOOL BOYS
On the Small School Boys side Hughson edged out Fernley Nevada 52 to 57. If Sonora had run in this division I believe that they would have taken the title.
5. Carson Boice (Hughson) 14:31
6. Josue Esquivel (Hughson) 15:04
