SubSection Results

What a long day! It was nice that it had rained earlier in the week. That kept some of the dust down on the Frogtown circuit. The day began with the smaller schools and finished with the larger ones. Even though there is something like 24 high schools in Stanislaus County, they did not all field a competing XC team. But trust me, there were StanCo runners in every single race to keep me and my camera busy from 9am until after 4pm.

Schools/runners raced in their respective divisions. In the Varsity races the top 10 teams qualified (in each of the five divisions) and the top ten individuals (not already on one of those ten teams). I however am lumping most of the varsity results together into male and female categories.

VARSITY LADIES
On the female varsity side of the competition, the qualifying teams were: Modesto (8th D1); Downey (7th D2); Hughson (2nd D4); and Riverbank (6th D4). Individually Three Turlock girls qualified in D1 (Hope Salsig, Maria Varela, and Ade Fredeen). In the same race two Enochs ladies qualified (Clarissa Morales and Hailey Rodriguez Delaney), and Torey Maravilla from Gregori. In the D5 girls it looks like Kylie Joslin of Waterford and Hannah Heath of Central Catholic scored individual spots. Additionally Kristen Aguilar of Oakdale qualified in D3 (I think).
Below is a combined (all divisions) listing of the Varsity girls and their combined place.

On the team end (showing the over all place and total time of top five runners)--it should be noted that the place was determined by adding up the top five overall places and not by the overall times. There were 95 competing full teams.

VARSITY MEN

The qualifying teams on the men's side were: Modesto and Gregori in D1 and Hughson and Riverbank in D4. Individually, I believe that Waterford qualified Luis Ceron and Deven McCoy in D5. In D3 Tomas Virgen of Patterson and Daniel Prado of Oakdale both got into the SJS meet. In D1 David Bosquez (Turlock) and Nathan Gutierrez (Enochs) both qualified.

On the team end (showing the over all place and total time of top five runners)--it should be noted that the place was determined by adding up the top five overall places and not by the overall times. There were 102 competing varsity teams.
Cardenas led Modesto
 4-Modesto 1:25:05
31-Gregori 1:29:50 (with #4 runner competing F/S)
35-Hughson 1:30:40
41-Riverbank 1:31:37 (missing #3 runner)
43-Downey 1:32:07 (with #1 runner competing F/S)

91-Grace Davis 1:46:25
98-Central Valley 1:52:35
101-Central Catholic 2:01:57

It should be noted that some of these teams (especially Riverbank and Hughson) might not have been pushing 100%. They pretty much had a lock of qualifying, so in their specific cases comparing team and individual times may not lead to a fully accurate comparison.

Additionally a huge Whoot! for MoHi who placed 3rd in the ultra competitive D1 race.  The top 2 teams in this particular division move on to State. The Hughson girls (whoot-whoot) were second in D4. The top 2 in Saturday's race will qualify.
